Rebekah Woods, LMFT, CMHS

A Note from Rebekah:

Welcome to Twin Lakes Counseling!
Sometimes life gets to be too much.

We lean on our supports, but somehow, they are not able to help us the way that they used to and doing it on our own isn’t working anymore. This is a common experience for people of all ages and in all circumstances. When life becomes too much to handle, sometimes it can be helpful to sit down with a trained professional to explore the challenges in your life and gain new insight that can bring you to a more enjoyable future.

Which is why I am so glad you are here! As a therapist, I would value the opportunity to come along side you in this incredibly difficult time and help to bring an understanding that could lead to a new path for you. The journey is not easy, but as a team, we can work hard to find solutions and help make life not only bearable again, but actually enjoyable.

Let me find the strengths you posess that maybe you have lost sight of, and find hope where perhaps you only see challenges. I enjoy working with all ages who are looking to grow and change for the better and would love to be that support for you.

Rebekah knows how unbearable life can get. She also believes that every person has strengths, even if that person cannot see them. Sometimes, it takes professional help to bring clarity to a seemingly impossible situation. Rebekah also believes that life can not only be made bearable again, but actually enjoyable. Since starting her work in therapy in 2005, these beliefs have only grown stronger as she has been privileged enough to come along side people in some of their hardest moments and bring an understanding as to how they got there and where they can go from there.

Once she obtained her Bachelors of Science in Psychology at the University of Washington, Rebekah worked in residential treatment in 2003. It was during this experience, seeing the effects of family systems on individual mental health, that ignited her passion for family therapy. Since then she has obtained her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University and has worked in a variety of settings, including outpatient and inpatient treatment for both mental health and substances use, as well as in facilitation of WRAP around teams.

Through her vast experiences, Rebekah has learned the power and impact our early experiences with our families and the world has on who we are today and how we interact with the world. This knowledge informs how she practices therapy as she combines finding practical solutions to current challenges, with exploring and better understanding the origins of the feelings and behaviors associated with those challenges for a more long-term healing opportunity.

While Rebekah provides therapy for a variety of issues, she has become particularly interested in family of origin work, depression, anxiety, those struggling with life transitions, and relationships and boundary settings. While journeying with her clients, Rebekah has found the utilization of Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, Solution Focused Techniques, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to be most helpful during therapy.

For those clients who have a strong connection to their spirituality and faith, Rebekah understands and honors both the great support this provides us in times of hardship as well as the challenges that can come within faith systems that include imperfect people leading us. She utilizes both her personal and professional experience with Christianity and other faiths to help her clients stay in touch with their spirituality and navigate what it means for them.

Rebekah also feels very committed to working with underserved populations and teaching/growing therapists that are newer to the field. She believes that by continuing to grow her skills both as a therapist and supervisor, she can help to provide the best care possible to as many people possible.
