Brittney Jones, MHC Intern

A Note from Dr. Laura Wallace:

Welcome to Twin Lakes Counseling!
I'm so glad you are here.

I have been practicing marriage and family therapy for almost a decade and am truly passionate about the work I do. I have gathered a team of the best therapists around, and if you'll let us, we would love to explore how to use our expertise and your experience to make lasting and powerful change.

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing where our work together takes us!

Brittney Jones, MHC Intern

Pronouns: She/Hers

Brittney's desire to help people as a profession began in high school, which she was fortunate enough to experience as a safe place where she could explore who she wanted to be and how she wanted to show up in the world. After achieving a Bachelor or Arts in English - Language and Literacy from California University of Pennsylvania, Brittney decided to work in schools and help provide the same safe experience for more young people. She first worked as a teacher and then began training as a school counselor, where she discovered that she loved sitting with individuals, listening to their stories, and helping them discover their inner strengths. Brittney decided to go back to school to obtain her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University so that she could help even more people in this same way.

Brittney works with individuals of all ages who are experiencing a variety of mental health issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, and self-esteem. She is also passionate about working with adolescent and young adults as well as individuals struggling with eating disordersr and those who have experienced trauma. Brittney aims to help her clients identify current unhealthy behaviors and thoughts and recognize and utilize the strengths that already exist within them to develop healthy coping mechanisms to improve daily functioning.

Depending on each client's needs, Brittney enjoys incorporating many different therapeutic perspectives and modalities. She particularly enjoys utilizing Internal Family Systems, psychotherapeutic yoga, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, attachment theory, mindfulness, Adlerian, and self-compassion techniques. These support her goal for helping each of her clients get to know themselves more and feel a greater sense of empowerment. She believes every individual has what they need to live the life they most desire and she is here to help them find it.

Brittney's compassionate and empathetic nature helps put each of her clients at ease. Her hope is to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship that allows her clients to speak freely, share their story fully, and experience the power of being seen and heard for who they are without expectations, judgement, or opinions. Brittney believes we each have a voice and that it is important to exercise using that voice in a safe space where we can experience and express ourselves completely. In so doing, Brittney hopes every person she sees will be able to walk out into the world feeling more secure in themselves and empowered to achieve the life they most want to live.
