Erin Dierickx, MFT Intern

A Note from Erin:

Welcome to Twin Lakes Counseling!
I'm so glad you are here.

I believe in the power of connection. My goal is to create a safe space for us to communicate openly and honestly so that we can determine your goals for therapy.

In order to do that, I value and prioritize the therapeutic relationship with individuals, couples and families. I believe we all need and deserve to be seen. If you are exploring this site, you might be in search of some personal insight, looking to make a change, or desire a connection with someone who has an outside perspective. Whatever brings you here, I welcome the opportunity to hear your story and work alongside you to create the path you want for yourself. I look forward to meeting you.

Erin Dierickx, MFT Intern

Erin is a Federal Way school district alumnus who is excited to return to and help support the community she grew up in. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Western Washington University and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in couple and family therapy at Seattle University. She is passionate about developing deep connections with individuals and families in collaborative efforts to create a vision for where her clients want to be in their life, and utilize their strengths to work on creating a path to get there.

Erin welcomes clients from all walks of life with a gentle, calm, and open presence. Having worked as an educator for several years, she has a passion for working with children and their parents in order to develop and maintain a strong family unit. She also has a particular interest in working with couples in distress in addition to individuals who are experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Erin is also active in various school settings and has experience in research with couples therapy.

Erin believes it is important to work from a holistic perspective, which is why she guides her clients to explore the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual parts that make up who they are. To support this holistic approach, Erin finds strengths-based and relational therapeutic techniques to be very helpful because they emphasize that we have the tools we need within us to live our lives differently, and also that our support systems are essential to our growth. Erin is honored whenever she gets to be a part of someone's support system as a therapist, whatever their gender, orientation, culture, or life circumstance. She knows it takes great courage and vulnerability to open up and share your story, no matter who you are, and cherishes the opportunity to help a person find their strength and witness the small changes as they move towards their goals.

Erin's favorite clients are people who arrive to therapy knowing it might be really challenging, but also trusting that it is worth it. She wants to be right there with them, doing the work necessary to achieve change, find healing, and grow. Erin finds that clients are are willing to show up and who are open to activities and new perspectives are able to find incredible meaning in their lives. She also is very welcoming to those clients who challenge her and are honest from the start. With open and honest feedback going both directions, even when it is hard to hear, so much is made possible.
