Lisa Christensen, LMHC

A Note from Lisa:

Welcome to Twin Lakes Counseling!
I'm so glad you are here.

What I have discovered, throughout my years as a therapist, is that we can all benefit from taking time to do personal work. My goal is to create new, healthier methods to lead your life. In doing so, freedom from unwanted patterns is possible.

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing if our collaboration will be a good fit!

From early on, Lisa has had a heart to help people, a desire to understand the effects of living in a world like ours, and a desire to collaborate with others in determining how freedom and wholeness can be achieved. Lisa started this work as an Acupuncturist where she became finely tuned to how the “mind body” connection influences physical and mental health. Though she saw positive results from her work, she noticed that most of her patients came to also “talk” about their life, their struggles, and their experiences. With the realization that there was more to be learned that could further help the healing process, Lisa went back to school to became a therapist.

Adding to her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Seattle University and her Masters of Science from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, Lisa achieved her Masters of Applied Behavioral Science from Bastyr University in 2007. Taking with her all she learned about the mind-body connection from her days as a an acupuncturist, she quickly developed a treatment approach that she describes as eclectic and integrative. She is highly skilled with a variety of theoretical treatment models and interventions which allows her to determine which modalities to use based on the individual and their need.

This treatment approach has led to Lisa’s wide range of experiences treating individuals of all ages and of varied diagnoses. Though she does have an extensive amount of experience, she considers herself particularly knowledgeable of and experienced with those healing from the impact of a Narcissist, addicts with co-occuring mental health diagnoses, and individuals dealing with medical diagnoses, including adoloscents and young adults. She also works with couples, parents, and individuals with a wide range of emotional struggles.

Lisa’s work with her clients is a collaborative effort. She enjoys teaming up to investigate and problem solve issues or feelings being had that are no longer serving in a positive way. With her as your guide, she will help you uncover the negative or unhealthy patterns and coping mechanisms that you have used to get through life. The goal is to understand why these exist and have developed in the first place, and then to create new, healthier methods to lead your life. By uncovering the “root” issue, we uncover the previously unidentified “thing” that we have felt has been holding us back.

Lisa looks forward to hearing from you and seeing if collaborating with her will be a good fit for you.
