Mary Graham, LMHCA

A Note from Dr. Laura Wallace:

Welcome to Twin Lakes Counseling!
I'm so glad you are here.

I have been practicing marriage and family therapy for almost a decade and am truly passionate about the work I do. I have gathered a team of the best therapists around, and if you'll let us, we would love to explore how to use our expertise and your experience to make lasting and powerful change.

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing where our work together takes us!

Mary Graham, LMHCA

Mary knows the power of having someone step into your life at a critical moment to empower a course change. Finding herself on the verge of dropping out of high school, one caring adult intervened and changed the trajectory of her life. After becoming one of the only people in her family to graduate from high school, she knew she wanted to impact peoples’ lives as somone who cared had impacted hers.

Upon achieving her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Central Washington University, Mary was able to work with young people in crisis as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor. Desiring more education and training, she completed her Masters in Psychology from Eastern Washington University and spent several years as a school counselor.  Upon obtaining her Ph.D. in Counseling from Oregon State University, Mary became a professor where she desired to share her experience and passion for therapy with those who also wanted to improve access to quality mental health care.

Now, with over twenty years of experience in the counseling and teaching fields, Mary is still incredibly passionate about providing quality therapy to as many people as possible. This is what has inspired her into a life of learning, empowering others, and working one-on-one with those seeking transformative change in their lives.

Mary is happy to be focused once again on providing clients with an unconditional positive regard and connection which she finds to be a core condition in a therapeutic relationship. She believes that everyone is an expert in their own lives and it is her honor to be a collaborator on a shared journey with her clients. Mary finds this humanistic approach to therapy to be most beneficial and applies her experience with expressive arts, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, reality therapy, and Choice Theory to help her clients build strength from within.

Given her extensive experience, Mary has developed several specialities to include working with youth, families, and individuals experiencing life transitions. In so doing, she helps people learn coping skills that best suit them when dealing with anxiety, depression, career changes, relationship concerns, grief, and trauma. Mary has also done extensive work with addictions and recovery. Her aim is to help her clients feel empowered by developing new and healthy strategies for their life’s situations and hopes to be able to do that for you.
