Shauna Gauthier, LMHC

A Note from Shauna:

Welcome to Twin Lakes Counseling!
I'm so glad you are here.

We are birthed and formed in the context of relationship. My belief is that relationship with ourselves and with others is where we can find healing, making meaning, and discover ourselves more fully.

Therapy is a unique relationship where that discovery is centralized, cultivated and co-created.

I love working with individuals and couples with a deep desire to know themselves on a deeper level and who want to unleash themselves from the trappings and binds (or traumas) that have kept them from loving and living with greater freedom. This translates to clients who are self-reflective and generally have a sense that something "feels off" in their life, in their body, in their relationships.

Shauna Gauthier, LMHC

Shauna Gauthier is originally from the Bay Area in California, but primarily grew up along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in Littleton, Colorado. Her early professional years were spent in the nonprofit sector where she led programs focused on the development of women and girls both domestically and internationally. After briefly living and working abroad, Shauna returned to the US to study trauma and its impact upon individuals and communities. She received her Masters degree in Counseling Psychology at The Seattle School in 2010.

Shauna works with people in all seasons of their lives, addressing a wide array of issues including anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflict, grief, and trauma. She specializes in issues stemming from a history of various forms of trauma and/or abuse (sexual, emotional, physical, psychological). What Shauna finds helpful when working through life issues, is the journey into a clients past in an effort to bring clarity and perspective to who they are today and what has them feeling trapped, bound up, or "feeling off." This is because it is often in our earliest relationships that our interpersonal dynamics are formed, sometimes around all kinds of different, maybe painful experienes. This belief informs her therapy style, rooted in a trauma-focused narrative approach, to hear the whole story which sometimes starts earlier than the client realizes. She utilizes attachment theory and works with interpersonal dynamics - body language, facial expressions, and other nonverbal mannerisms - that unfold in the therapeutic relationship. This approach to therapy is always informed by each distinctive and unique client or couple.

With nearly 20 years of combined experience in the nonprofit sector and mental health field, Shauna has been privileged to journey alongside individuals, couples and communities as they have worked toward healing, meaning-making, and wholeness. She would be honored to help you find your way to living and loving with greater freedom.
