A Note from Dr. Laura Wallace:

Welcome to Twin Lakes Counseling!
I'm so glad you are here.

I have been practicing marriage and family therapy for almost a decade and am truly passionate about the work I do. I have gathered a team of the best therapists around, and if you'll let us, we would love to explore how to use our expertise and your experience to make lasting and powerful change.

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing where our work together takes us!

Sheaunna Guary, LMHCA

MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR
Pronouns: She/Her

Sheaunna’s experience as a teacher, a business owner, and a mother exposed her to how our culture and society often seems to discourage authentic expression. She quickly developed a desire to create environments that would allow those she came in contact with to thrive, grow, and personally develop by holding space for their authentic expression. Once determining that this was what she was called to do professionally, Sheaunna obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Texas and her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University.

Sheaunna truly puts her clients first. She is known for her ability to create an environment of trust and safety with her clients while empowering them to create a life that they desire, advocate for themselves, and assist in removing or reducing any systemic barriers that negatively impact their mental health and well-being. To do so, Sheaunna utilizes evidence-based practices, particularly finding Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapies most helpful. She is also being trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

The techniques Sheaunna uses, in conjunction with her skills in conceptualizing, developing, and executing treatment plans specific to each client, allows Sheaunna to help a wide variety of individuals and problem sets. She is experienced with adult survivors of childhood trauma, relationship counseling, PTSD, depression, anxiety, grief, addictions, and working with children and adolescents. Sheaunna also specializes in trauma and crisis counseling, as well as multicultural and diversity counseling to include LGBTQ+ and non-monogamy.

No matter who she is working with, Sheaunna believes every individual is whole and complete as they are, and as individuals and families heal, so can communities and nations. Her goal is to empower her clients, be a guide in addressing difficulties both past and present, and facilitate healing.

When she is not working with her clients, Sheaunna enjoys playing the harp, hiking, rock climbing, practicing yoga, painting, gardening, reading, and playing with her kids.
