Bagher Afshari Gharyaghdi is a compassionate advocate for mental health with a diverse background in humanitarian work, having contributed to the aid of refugees as a translator and offered faith-based crisis therapy while on missionary in collaboration with the United Nations in Turkey. Bagher completed a Master's degree from Capella, and is currently gaining practical experience through his internship at Twin Lakes Counseling. To further his education, Bagher has received acceptance for his Ph.D. studies in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Neuropsychology in the Fall of 2024. By starting this new chapter, he aims to enhance his understanding of psychophysiology, contributing to the holistic development of systemic solutions.
Bagher holds a passion and absolute fascination for the science of psychology, eager to better understand the interplay of genetics and evolution, as well as a focus on addictions, where he recognizes the importance of intervention and social support in the recovery process. Bagher strongly believes that biological evolution leads to psychological evolution and the importance of evidence-based practices and research to continuously support that back and forth dance of evolution.
Bagher enjoys working with clients from a variety of different cultures, social norms, languages and backgrounds. He aims to better connect and understand the many diverse issues in the field with greater compassion by having empathy and holding space for the pain of others. His mission is to help increase access to mental health resources.
Bagher represents a fusion of academic knowledge, practical experience, and a compassionate approach, dedicated to making a lasting impact in the realms of mental health and humanitarian efforts alike.
