Cherie McKale, MHC Intern

A Note from Cherie:

Welcome to Twin Lakes Counseling!
I'm so glad you are here.

I believe a holistic balance between mental, physical, and spiritual health is a key aspect of personal wellness. I work towards the day when a counseling session is viewed as common-place as a physical check-up.

I strive to integrate my optimistic, compassionate, and down-to-earth personality with practical, evidence-based therapeutic approaches to empowerment, hope, and healing. I aim to provide a calm place of respite from the noise of everyday life by offering a secure space free of judgment, comparison, or opinion.

My goal is to build a strong therapeutic relationship in which you can confidently identify, sort, and explore the thoughts and feelings that have been building up inside. Here, I believe you are the expert in your own life, and I am the student. I am eager to hear your story!

Cherie McKale, MHC Intern

Cherie has lived in Washington state for over 25 years and is passionate about bringing hope and healing to the Pacific Northwest. She currently holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, with concentrations in music, psychology, and counseling, and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. She is passionate about advocating for quality and accessible mental health care and works toward the day when a counseling session is viewed as common place as a physical check-up.

Cherie believes strongly in the resiliency of the human spirit and strives to help her clients recognize and access their own stengths through the therapeutic process. To do this, she has found a strong appreciation for research-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Person-Centered, and Solution-Focused therapy. Through the use of techniques such as these, Cherie provides practical, multiculurally competent, and integrative approaches to therapy that lead her clients to a greater sense of empowerment.

Cherie enjoys working with adolescents and adults of all religions, races, genders, and identities, and has a particular passion for working with individuals who are experiencing struggles stemming from crisis, trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions, chronic pain, and attachment disorders. With each of her clients, she works to build a unique therapeutic relationship in which they can safely and confidently identify, sort, and explore the thoughts and feelins that have been burried or building within them. Here, she believes the client is the expert and she is the student.

Cherie has been deeply involved in various church, prison, youth, women, and prison ministries throughout the northwest and is dedicated to the integration of her faith and practice. She works to bring mental health awareness to the Pacific Northwest by diligently advocating for quality and accessible mental health care. Cherie strives to help de-stigmatize mental health and promote the resiliency of the human spirit.
