CLINICAL INTERN
Pronouns: She/Her
Grounded in Narrative, Existential, Family Systems, and Feminist theories, Sydney partners with individuals, couples, and families to foster clear communication, deepen compassion, and build more fulfilling, empowered lives. Following a prolonged hospitalization, Sydney developed a deep passion for helping those who may also struggle with their bodies and chronic illnesses. Her experience has reinforced the connection between stress and physiological well-being, as well as the importance of sustainable self-care practices. In her work with clients, Sydney believes that radical self-love is the foundation for meaningful change and the key to transforming how we show up in our relationships. When clients begin to meet themselves with compassion, honesty, and care, they then create the space to show up more authentically in their relationships.
Sydney received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Central Washington University and is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Walden University (online), with a specialization in work with couples and families (expected graduation October 2026). This education has helped cultivate Sydney’s passion for working with clients who want to challenge implicit biases, navigate systemic oppression, and reclaim a sense of agency and control in their lives. As a disabled and queer clinician, she recognizes that her lived experience offers a valuable perspective—one that can help clients find a therapist they trust and collaborate with openly and confidently.
Sydney is dedicated to helping clients build resilience – both as they are and within their relationships as they navigate life’s challenges. She is committed to empowering clients to recognize their capacity to shape the direction of their lives. Sydney strives to uphold Twin Lakes Counseling’s vision in ensuring that therapy is accessible to all, rather than a privilege afforded to a select few.
Sydney is a bachelor’s-level clinical mental health counseling intern supervised by Cherie McKale, LMHC (LH61317695; NPI 1528620010).
