MARRIAGE & FAMILY THERAPY ASSOCIATE
Pronouns: She/Her
When we allow ourselves to be transformed by what we are going through, life’s experiences can have something valuable to teach us. I truly believe that no experience is wasted. In nature, we can see that some of the most beautiful places were created through the harshest of adversities. By choosing to lean into our challenges, with an open mind and a softened heart, we can emerge more resilient, compassionate, and able to live a life of gratitude for all that has shaped us into who we are becoming. There is a saying that, sometimes when it seems like things are falling apart, they are really just falling into place. Each day presents an opportunity to write a new page in your life's story. This is a journey that does not need to be taken alone; I am grateful to join you in the process.
I was born and raised here in our beautiful Pacific Northwest, and I have also had the opportunity to live in many different areas of the world, fostering within me a sense of cultural humility and a deep appreciation for diversity. Having been transformed through my own challenging life experiences, I understand how it can be both painful and rewarding to reflect on the past, lean into the process of healing and growth, and move towards writing the next chapter of your life’s story. My own journey through this process fostered a desire within me to support others in ways that I had been supported. In pursuit of this goal, I returned to school and obtained my Master of Science in Couple and Family Therapy through Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
As a systemically oriented therapist, I view each client’s life story through a biopsychosocial lens. This allows me to honor the unique physical, mental, relational, and spiritual experiences of each client. I enjoy working with couples, families, and individuals of all ages and stages of life. I take a special interest in: life transitions, blended families, couples, women's issues, parenting, grief & loss, medical family therapy, and military families. I also offer faith-based counseling for clients who seek to integrate their spirituality and their therapeutic process.
I believe that insight and context leads to understanding and growth. Through a person-centered approach, I integrate a variety of therapeutic models, which include: The Gottman Method (Level 1 trained; Level 2 training in-process), narrative therapy, family systems and intergenerational theory, emotionally-focused therapy, attachment theory, solution-focused and experiential therapies, as well as cognitive (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
Throughout your therapeutic journey, I will empathetically collaborate with you, meeting you where you are at in your unique circumstances. Authenticity, social justice, acceptance, and curiosity from a warm and non-judgmental stance are all values that infuse my therapeutic practice.
Languages spoken: English and French.
"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty. I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it." - Maya Angelou
