Katie Rojas, LMHCA

A Note from Katie:

Welcome to Twin Lakes Counseling!
I'm so glad you are here.

Therapy is a process that takes courage and dedication by allowing ourselves to be vulnerable expressing our thoughts, emotions, and stories in a safe and nurturing environment. Everyone has a story to share and I enjoy being that listening ear for others while helping them find the tools to achieve holistic wellness.

In life, we will undeniably face challenges and it's in those times we may need the courage to reach out and ask for someone to help guide us on our journey. Taking agency in our own lives by tending to the mental and emotional parts of ourselves, we are improving society as a whole and making the world a better place for those around us.

I admire your strength for taking that first step and look forward to connecting with you!

Katie Rojas, LMHCA

Pronouns: She/Her

Full Katie has always had a passion for serving others. Her husband recently retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service during which time Katie had the privilege of volunteering and working with the military families within his units in various capacities. She quickly learned the challenges that military families face as individuals and in relationship with having to frequently relocate, endure deployments, and manage other mental and emotional obstacles. Katie's experiences and desire to serve others led her to add on to her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Louisville and achieve her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University.

Along the way she also had the opportunity to work in a clinical setting as a counseling intern in a faith-based counseling center at U.S. Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma, which also provided her with the clinical experience of working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds facing a multitude of challenges. Upon graduation, Katie moved into private practice work where she continued to provide therapy to an array of individuals, couples, and families in the community. During this time Katie also continued her work with children and teens, utilizing various creative therapy and ssand tray therapy techniques found to be helpful in connecting and communicating while practicing mindfulness and relaxation techniques important to managing anxiety, anger, self-esteem, and behavioral concerns. Katie understand how everyone's journey is unique and therefore believes it is important to tailor treatment plans to each client's specific needs and goals in order for it to be most helpful and effective.

Katie provides therapy in treating depression, anxiety, anger, life transitions, self-esteem, as well as sleep issues. She is committed to helping clients feel more empowered, develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving, tap into their own strengths, and find meaning and purpose in their lives. The theoretical approaches Katie uses include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Positive Psychology, Strengths-Based Therapy, as well as creative therapy and sandtray therapy techniques.
