Pronouns: They/Them
Andi’s journey to the mental health field has been shaped by a passion for understanding the complexities of the human experience. Andi earned their Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Chicago, where they consistently held a place on the Dean's list during their 3rd and 4th years. Currently, Andi is pursuing their Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Antioch University in New England alongside a Certificate in Trauma Counseling with an anticipated graduation in December of 2024. Andi’s commitment to supporting individuals through various life challenges extends beyond traditional therapy. Through personal experiences with grief, Andi was able to alchemize their own pain into a source of support for others. This passion manifested into an intention to pursue grief counseling, obtaining a certificate in end-of-life doula training from the University of Vermont. Andi’s path to the counseling field has been a gradual unfolding, marked by personal growth and encouragement from their own experiences with therapy. In recognizing their own inner strength and fostering empowerment, Andi discovered a passion to assist others in similar ways.
Andi works with people across various demographics, including older adults, teenagers, members of the queer community, and veterans – a group particularly close to their heart. Areas of interest encompass a wide variety of mental health concerns including trauma, grief, chronic and terminal illnesses, depression, anxiety, neurodivergence (including autism and ADHD), and the unique challenges faced by individuals in the LGBTQ+ community. Andi takes an integrated eclectic approach incorporating strength-based and solution-focused modalities while drawing from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and foundations of existential philosophies.
Andi’s ultimate goal is to create a space where individuals feel heard, valued, and seen. Offering a safe environment for processing and exploring whatever clients are willing to share, Andi facilitates growth and change utilizing empathy and compassion. Their holistic approach acknowledges the present while appreciating that patterns are influenced by the past, providing a solid well rounded grounding to their therapeutic work. Andi hopes that each client steps out of therapy with a new found sense of self-discovery and healing with the courage to live a fulfilling life.
