Victoria found herself naturally drawn to a career in counseling starting from her first introductory courses in the field of psychology. She has always been intrigued to understand how people think and seeks to acknowledge the impact that life has on human functioning. Victoria began her journey towards the field of mental health through case management at a community mental health agency, which fueled her desire to pursue further education on how to better serve others. Victoria earned her Bachelor’s in Applied Developmental Psychology from Eastern Washington University, followed by her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, Minneapolis.
Victoria works with adult and older adolescent individuals and couples struggling with a variety of concerns such as depression, anxiety, body image/dysmorphia, relationship/family distress, and personality disorders. She has a specific appreciation for working with those populations to process and work through past traumas. Victoria believes that everyone comes into their present situations based on what they have gone through, and that to understand ourselves we must recognize how our past experiences have shaped us. Beneficial to her work with trauma and disordered eating, Victoria has knowledge in nutritional psychology and formal training in EMDR, currently awaiting certification.
Victoria takes a “teamwork” stance when working with you to create your own unique goals pulling from therapeutic approaches and techniques such as trauma-informed therapy, CBT, DBT, solution-focused theory, family systems theory, and motivational interviewing. Victoria is able to find the perfect balance between being direct, yet compassionate, thus establishing a sense of gentle honesty. She aims to give a voice to those who feel unheard and neglected.
