MARRIAGE & FAMILY THERAPY ASSOCIATE*
Pronouns: She/Her
Melanie finds deep fulfillment in bearing witness to her clients’ stories. Melanie views therapy as a courageous journey, where clients step into the role of the protagonist of their life narrative —imperfect, learning, and growing along the way. She finds joy in helping clients explore their unique journeys and uncover the possibilities ahead, whether individually or within their relationships. In a society that often encourages keeping vulnerabilities protected and hidden, Melanie understands the risk of letting others witness her truths. Yet, she believes that finding support from trusted individuals through therapy can be an incredibly powerful experience, one that fuels deeper healing and connection to self and others.
Melanie holds a Master’s of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University Seattle. She approaches therapy with a systemic lens, considering the broader context of each client’s life. Melanie relies on therapy modalities that center multicultural sensitivity and the impacts of oppression. Her work integrates Narrative Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy, blending the power of language with attunement to the wisdom of our emotions. Melanie also incorporates elements of Internal Family Systems and Somatic Therapy. Acknowledging that everyone’s minds, communication styles, and learning approaches are different, she collaborates closely with clients to tailor the therapeutic process to their individual needs.
Melanie is passionate about supporting clients through life transitions, relationship challenges, neurodivergence, loss and grief, career dissatisfaction, and attachment wounds. She creates a space where clients can feel safe, supported, and free to be their authentic selves.
With Melanie, clients can expect to find a curiosity-driven clinician who seeks to understand their lived experiences to the best of her ability. She believes that the client is the expert of their life, and that she is a privileged companion accompanying and supporting them toward their goals. Melanie views her therapeutic space (whether virtual or physical) as an environment that gently and warmly holds each client’s vulnerable moments, where safety can be built through shared trust and connection. Melanie fosters connection through engaged and empathetic listening, transparency, and opportunity for self-autonomy, along with dashes of appropriate humor to balance the highs and lows of the client’s therapeutic journey.
