Perhaps you sense a growing distance in your relationship and wonder if they might need help. The teenage years are scary ones for parents. Teens can suffer from depression, self-harm, bullying, thoughts of suicide, loneliness and isolation, poor grades, substance abuse, and violence. In these challenging years, healthy communication is vital.
Our therapists’ goal is to help adolescents communicate better with their parents and to help parents communicate better with their kids. We can help you examine your own blind spots and consider whether they might be preventing you from understanding what your teenager is be going through. With love and effort, you can create a loving relationship and provide the support and care your teen needs to face their challenges.
Anxiety in children can make the world seem scary or impossible. Our approach to child therapy is to provide the kids who visit us with a safe space where they can come in and process their emotions through talking, play, and art.
Our child therapists believe in helping our youngest clients to develop emotional literacy, which means that we use activities to teach them how to understand and name their emotions. Then we provide them with tools, allowing them to translate the discoveries and strategies they learn in our office to their own lives in the outside world.
