Group Psychotherapy

There is something powerful, helpful, and maybe comforting about being in a room with people who share in the same struggle, the same fight, as yourself. It is proof that you aren't alone, you aren't the only one. Also, sometimes we prefer brutal honesty and tough love from a near stranger to the band-aids and sugar-coated truths from our family and friends who don't want to see us suffer anymore. Just saying.

People can tell you all day that you aren't alone and that there are other people dealing with the same thing as you... but where are they? And even if you know they are out there, you are here... so what good does that do? But what if you could actually find people who could relate to you, who you could relate back with, and from there embark on a journey together?

In groups of 4 to 10, with a skilled, experienced, and compassionate guide, you can work together to find resolution and peace. People within the group will be carefully put together so as to be able to relate.

Current groups that we offer include:

  • Understanding and Unburdening Anxiety

Other groups they may be offered in the future may address:

  • Grief
  • Social Anxiety
  • Burn Out
  • Break-ups or Divorce
  • Major Life Transitions
  • Parenting Struggles
  • Substance Abuse

What are the benefits of Group Psychotherapy?

  • Helps you realize you're not alone. Though our circumstances are unique to us, often there are common feelings and underlining struggles.
  • Facilitates giving and receiving support. You aren't taking turns with the therapist here. Part of the process is turning to the group for support, feedback, and connection.
  • Helps you find "your voice." Part of the therapy is to notice and express how you are feeling about the therapy. Some days will be more difficult than others, and being able to notice and express this leads to empowerment.
  • Helps you practice being in relationship. So often the struggle we are experiencing impacts our relationships. In group therapy, you are put in relationship with other people which means you can explore how to relate better.
  • Offers a safety net. When you know you have a group of people participating in your journey, invested in your well-being, and waiting to hear about your good and bad days since your last session, you tend to feel braver throughout your time outside of therapy.
