Aja has always been interested in a career in social services. She graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Diversity. Aja began her career in social services as a case manager working with unhoused veterans. After working for several years, Aja is driven to make an impact at a larger level, which has led to her earning her Master’s of Social Work from Boise State University.
Aja serves a diverse population including individuals, couples, and families from a variety of cultural backgrounds. She is passionate about working with people experiencing stress from life transitions, including expecting and new mothers, large families, Muslims, veterans, multicultural couples, and families touched by the foster case system and adoption. Aja has personal experience adopting from foster care and understands the difficulties and joy involved in the process. Aja has 10 years of experience receiving various training to support work with individuals experiencing PTSD, military personnel, unhoused individuals, and military sexual assault survivors. As an active member of the Muslim community she has a unique and personal perspective from which to support Muslim individuals and families. Aja uses a mixed modality approach, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and person-centered care.
Additionally, Aja has completed the Birth Doula training and has attended multiple births, deepening her commitment to supporting perinatal mental health and providing compassionate care to pregnant individuals. She also has experience interning as a Peer Support Parent, providing coping skills and general mental health guidance for new parents experiencing Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders.
Aja provides a non-judgemental, motivating and inclusive space for clients to reflect and feel understood. She helps clients find more effective ways to cope with life’s challenges. Aja wants to help clients feel empowered and confident in their lives and reach their goals.
