It was during her time in the Military when Amanda felt called to help people. Upon deciding that she wanted to make this passion a life-long career, Amanda obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Saint Vincent College and a Masters in Family, Couples, and Marriage Counseling from Walden University.
Counseling has become her life’s passion as she gets to meet people ready for change and willing to do “the work,” as she calls it, to find healing and personal growth. Amanda’s background of course makes her uniquely specialized in helping those who are Veterans and those struggling with life transitions, but is also passionate about working with those struggling with women’s issues, anxiety, self-esteem issues, conflict resolution, relationship issues, and stress.
Amanda works from the mindset that you are the expert of your situation, while she can provide you with support and guidance to navigate it. While offering a warm and accepting environment in which to journey towards healing, some techniques Amanda finds helpful to apply in many cases include Holistic Counseling, Gestalt, Positive Psychology, Family Systems, Mindfulness, Meditation, and Strengths-Based Therapy.
Amanda believes very strongly in the power of therapy to impact an individual’s life through personal discovery, and its ability to lead someone into feelings of greater fulfillment, empowerment, awareness, and healing. Her goal in therapy is to listen to her clients, build a relationship with them, and together, through honesty, hard work, and a unique blend of traditional and holistic therapies, create a new path in which new decisions can be made that better align her client with the life they are trying to build.
