CLINICAL INTERN
Pronouns: She/Her
Shelby received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Washington State University and is currently pursuing her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. Her desire to pursue counseling comes from a genuine interest in understanding others experiences and providing guidance through difficult times. Her previous experience, working with vulnerable populations as a social services case manager, exemplified the need for emotional support in our community. This strengthened her desire to provide a space for those to tell their stories on an individual level and receive the support that they deserve.
Shelby enjoys working with people from all backgrounds with various presentations and ages, and a strong desire to serve children and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and low self-esteem. Her clinical approach is person-centered and holistic, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Shelby offers a warm, non-judgmental, and gentle space for her clients to show up as their authentic selves. She recognizes the vulnerability it takes to seek counseling services, and holds a deep respect for her clients courage to ask for help. Shelby strives to empower clients with the tools and knowledge to better understand themselves and increase their well-being.
Shelby is a bachelor’s-level mental health counseling intern at Twin Lakes Counseling. She is supervised by Anthony O’Leary, LMHC (NPI 1376195073, License LH00004150).
