Sharayah Lewis, LMHC

Sharayah Lewis, LMHC

CLINICAL SUPERVISOR
Pronouns: She/Her

Sharayah believes every person has value and deserves to feel connected, cared for, and at home in their own body. She knows how important it is to have someone in our lives who is a good listener, is open, hears without judgment, and encourages us. Knowing that she wanted her life's work to be about bringing these qualities to others, Sharayah attended Western Washington University and earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. Since then, she has enjoyed providing therapy in both inpatient and outpatient settings, encouraging and guiding clients looking for more effective ways to cope with hardship, new meanings, and potential solutions. Here at Twin Lakes Counseling she will continue to work with clients and also supervise and coach new therapists.

When working with a client and their goals, Sharayah seeks to find a balance between offering practical solutions to implement in day-to-day life (top-down interventions) and exploring the deeper root causes of primary concerns and difficulties (bottom-up interventions). Her open and non-judgemental approach encourages her clients to explore new possibilities and potentials in their own life rather than judge or criticize themselves. There is so much to find and learn from in our lives that help create more space and freedom.

In support of this approach, Sharayah finds the fundamentals of mindfulness and attachment theory, as well as an understanding of the nervous system's natural wisdom, to be particularly important in her work with her clients. Sharayah is a proponent of the health at every size approach, incorporating a holistic view of health and supporting a sense of peace with food and our bodies, to guide clients towards greater bio-psycho-social wellness. She has found that understanding and setting healthy boundaries can empower clients to get their own needs met in ways that feel aligned with their authentic selves.

As a therapist, Sharayah offers a calm presence and the ability to sit with the big feelings that arise while doing this powerful work. She believes no topics are off limits, nothing is irrelevant, and she will not shy away from her clients or anything they bring up. Sharayah puts great value on the therapeutic relationship she creates with each client and strives for a warm and trusting partnership that supports the ability to be direct and frank with each other.

Whether you are a client or a therapist, Sharayah enjoys teamwork and values the opportunity to talk through things, share ideas, and gain unique perspectives. She considers every person's life experiences equally valuable and feels everyone has something important to say and contribute. Every new way to view the world comes from the inherent uniqueness of who we each are and what we have lived through, and Sharayah deeply appreciates the opportunity to see the world through your eyes.
