Angela Hayes is an intern at Twin Lakes Counseling currently pursuing her Master’s of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Seattle University, with an expected graduation in June of 2025. Prior to entering into her masters program, Angela attended Lasell University in Boston, Massachusetts, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a minor in Child and Adolescent Studies. Angela has a diverse experience, working with both adults and children in group home settings. Her time working with people as a group living environment counselor and children at Mary’s Place has deepened her passion for helping others. During her undergraduate studies Angela facilitated a "Take Back the Night" event, focused on domestic violence awareness, an issue close to her heart and earning a Crisis Intervention Certification. For Angela, the power of therapy lies in guiding clients to identify their own solutions and helping them discover what works best for their unique life experiences.
Angela takes an integrated approach, consisting of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), feminist therapy, and narrative therapy. Angela works with a variety of populations including individuals, couples, and families. Among the range of mental health concerns served, Angela feels a particular draw to working with those who have experienced adverse childhood experiences, PTSD, abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, anxiety, and mood disorders.
In session, Angela conveys a sense of authenticity and values collaboration and humor. She works to foster a professional yet comfortable environment where clients can feel safe and understood. Honoring each client’s autonomy by letting them lead the session, while providing gentle clinical insight when needed creates an empowered space ripe for change. Her goal is to empower clients to find their voice, challenge negative thought patterns, and build confidence in themselves. By connecting current behaviors to past experiences, Angela aims to help clients better understand the root causes of their struggles and move forward with clarity and self-compassion.
