Why do we do the things we do and say the things we say? A firm believer in the power of love and knowledge, Jaymen’s desire to better understand people and humanity led them to therapy. Jaymen has found therapy to be a conducive environment in which to learn, share knowledge and love, and center self-growth as they endeavor to help our world be a kinder place. Their educational path has also helped unravel these core inquiries; they have received two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Washington (Seattle) in Communications and Anthropology, a minor in Classical History and Literature, and are currently pursuing their Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University (Seattle).
Jaymen finds the most success in counseling individuals who embrace the queerness of themselves and the world around us. Trauma, depression, anxiety, gender identity and self-expression are some of the presenting issues that Jaymen enjoys working with. Whether it be through individual, couple, or family work, Jaymen finds satisfaction in helping each person shine and step into their authentic self. Jaymen has training in trauma, substance abuse, career counseling, and group, family, and couple’s therapy.
Jaymen strives to imbue their practice with the values of safety, love, and hope. With a positive and open attitude, they invite attention to the ways in which our minds meet the world around us, and how we show up for ourselves both in session and in life. To this end, they utilize mindfulness meditations and wisdom, polyvagal and cognitive exploration of the bio-psyche, emotional exploration, cognitive restructuring, and more. Jaymen would like to incorporate animals into their practice one day and encourages those with animals to keep them nearby– whether it be for comfort or a second opinion.
